This fine antique Victorian sterling silver teapot has a circular rounded form.

The body of the teapot is embellished with fine and impressive chased scrolling leaf and floral designs, incorporating a shaped cartouche to either side.

Each cartouche displays the contemporary bright cut engraved initials ‘IIB’ below a crest depicting two wings erect.

The shoulders of the teapot are ornamented with a plain flared quatrefoil shaped border to the rim.

This teapot is fitted with a hallmarked hinged domed cover retaining the fine and impressive original hallmarked sterling silver bud, floral and foliate finial.

The upper portion of the hallmarked C scroll handle is ornamented with impressive chased decoration in a very unusual style, in the form of a goats head.

The lower socket of the handle is embellished with three impressive chased stemmed leaf designs.

The impressive swan necked spout is enveloped with an unusual chased decorated leaf design pendant drop to the nadir of the socket.

This exceptional antique teapot was crafted by the collectable and renowned London silversmiths Edward & John Barnard.

Date: 1851

This antique teapot is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The chased decoration is all very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration shows signs of wear in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks to the handle, finial and interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
