This exceptional antique William IV sterling silver three piece tea set/service consists of a teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl.

The pieces of this antique tea set have a plain circular rounded form onto collet style bases.

The upper and lower portion of each item is embellished with fine and impressive flat engraved decoration depicting scrolling strapwork style ornamentation incorporating leaf and floral motifs and accented with matt and geometric trellis backgrounds.

The teapot is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover surmounted by a sterling silver compressed circular finial.

The hinge is ornamented with an impressive chased decorated scrolling design to either side.

Each piece is fitted with a fine and impressive opposing scroll handle with a plain thumbpiece; the handle to the teapot is further ornamented with an impressive flat engraved scrolling leaf design to the upper portion.

The impressive swan necked spout to the teapot is embellished with lobed panels of scrolling leaf decoration to the lower portion and geometric designs encircling the lip.

The sugar bowl and cream jug retain the original gilded interiors.

This antique service, crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward, Edward junior, John and William Barnard, is in essentially the same condition as the day it was made, showing signs of little to no use.

Date: 1836

This antique tea service is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp and the flat engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece and part hallmarks to the handle and cover of the teapot are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these fine examples of antique teaware.
