SOLD - Swedish Silver Service Bowl and Stand - Antique 1837

This fine antique Swedish silver service bowl has a plain circular rounded form to a circular domed spreading foot.

The lower portion of the bowl is embellished with chased concaved fluted decoration.

The upper waisted section of the bowl is plain with an impressive embossed and applied alternating leaf motif border to the flared rim.

The interior of the bowl retains the original gilding.

This impressive service bowl is fitted to the original push fit circular stand, ornamented with an identical applied and embossed border to the rim.

The underside of the stand and collet style rim of the bowl bear the contemporary engraved initials ‘W&T’ in addition to the hallmarks:

Date mark: G4 (1837)

Silver quality/purity mark: Three Crowns National mark (Swedish, .830, 830/1000)

Town mark: Crowned Head (Stockholm)

Makers mark: GM (Gustav Möllenborg)

Date: 1837

This antique set is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional condition.

The chased, embossed and applied decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the bowl and underside of the stand are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
