This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver tea caddy has a rectangular panelled spreading form.

The surface of the tea caddy is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved strapwork style decoration accented with simplified stemmed leaf motifs.

The decoration to the body incorporates a shaped vacant cartouche to either side.

The shaped upper rim is ornamented with an impressive applied bead decorated border.

The tea caddy retains the original domed hallmarked hinged cover embellished with further bright cut engraved leaf ornamentation.

The cover is surmounted with the original, very fine and impressive sterling silver crest style finial depicting a horse’s head issuing out of a castle.

The shaped lower portion of this Victorian silver tea caddy is supported by integrated applied scrolling decoration with an incurved design to each corner.

This antique tea caddy is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the tea caddy are all very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
