This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver spectacle case has a plain, elongated oval form.

The hinged hallmarked cover is ornamented with an impressive engraved opposing scrolling cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved inscription 'In memory of Elizabeth, wife of James Bell, Who Died at 28 Brighton Place, Portobello on the 20th September 1875, Aged 64 Years'.

The posterior cover and sides of this case are plain and unembellished.

This hallmarked Victorian spectacle case is fitted with a hallmarked push fit catch, which when released reveals the original velvet lined compartments.
