These fine antique early Victorian sterling silver beakers are realistically modelled in the form of a barrel.

Once separated, each beaker is encircled with impressive reed decoration reproducing the bilge, quarter and head hoop of a barrel, in addition to engraved vertical stave joints.

The body of each beaker is ornamented with a bright cut engraved crest* depicting a wyvern** with wings elevated on a wheel erect.

These impressive Victorian beakers have gilded interiors.

* This crest pertains to the Somerville family.

** The wyvern is a mythical, dragon-like beast with two legs, feet like eagles' claws, two wings, and a body which curves seamlessly into a tail.

These Victorian beakers are an extremely good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

The bright cut engraved crests are very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each beaker are very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these examples of Victorian silverware.
