Description


This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver box has a rectangular shaped form.


The surface of this impressive Hukin and Heath silver box is plain and embellished with unusual faceted convex panels to each side.


The upper and lower rims of the box are encompassed with an applied reed and scrolling leaf decorated border.


The hallmarked hinged solid silver cover features a shaped thumbpiece to the anterior edge,


The interior of this impressive box retains the original gilding.


This exceptional Edwardian box was crafted by the London silversmiths John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath.


NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior; it is a sign of quality when boxes have gilded, unlined interiors in addition to a solid silver cover.

This antique box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The applied decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck and sharp due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
