The surface of the box is plain and encircled with a broad band of chased fluted decoration to the spreading foot.

The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied fluted border, reflecting that of the ornamentation to the foot.

The underside of this sterling silver toilet box bears the retailer's mark 'Mappin & Webb, London'.
