This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver breakfast dish has an oval domed shaped form.

The cover of this impressive silver dish is embellished with four large chased scrolling designs, with integrated panels of trellis decoration amidst floral sprays.

Each inverted arch design is conjoined with a fruit festoon and comprises four shaped cartouches, in addition to a large cartouche to the apex of the cover; four of these cartouches remain vacant.

The remaining cartouche to the anterior portion of the cover features the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a deer salient, above the motto 'In Altiora Tendo' - strive towards higher things.

The revolving cover is secured to the frame with detachable hallmarked sterling silver screw fittings at either end.

The anterior edge of the cover is fitted with a plain rounded handle featuring a button style thumbpiece.

The base of this impressive antique silver warming dish is plain and unembellished, with an applied bead decorated border to the rim.

Either end of this exceptional dish is fitted with a cast scrolling handle, accented with a circular knop the centre of the handpiece.

The cover revolves to reveal the original hallmarked oval warming tray and drip pan.

The plain warming tray is ornamented with pieced simplified scrolling leaf decoration, comprised of a large segmented central design and a paired border.

The surface of the drip pan is plain and unembellished.

This antique silver breakfast dish is supported by four cast silver elongated bracket style legs, each ornamented with a paw foot to scrolling leaf decoration incorporating lion mask design to the apex.

Such examples of antique Victorian silverware are rare and becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
