Description


These exceptional antique George III sterling silver butter dishes have a plain scallop shell shaped form.


What would be the umbo, of the natural shell, forms the impressive plain scrolling handpiece to each dish, encompassed with a paralleling applied gadroon decorated border.


The handpieces of these shell butter dishes are embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a three ostrich plumes.


These fine pieces of antique silverware are each supported by three cast sterling silver nautilus style shell feet.


These exceptional sterling silver dishes were crafted by the renowned London silversmith John Emes.

Condition


These antique butter dishes are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each dish are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
