Description

These exceptional antique George III sterling silver dishes have a plain scallop shell shaped form.

What would be the umbo of the natural shell, forms the impressive plain scrolling handpiece to each dish.

Each silver shell butter dish is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a hawk ringed.

These fine pieces of antique silverware are each supported by two nautilus style shell feet.

These large butter shells are an exceptional pair and are the finest examples of their type you could hope to acquire.

Condition

These antique butter dishes are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each dish are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Georgian silverware.
