This impressive George III sterling silver cake basket has an oval rounded form onto a spreading collet style foot.

The body of this antique basket is embellished with fine pierced vertical elliptical diaper pattern ornamentation accented with chased and embossed floral and urn motifs suspended from scrolling leaf brackets and supporting swag decoration.

The shaped rim is ornamented with an impressive foliate festoon decorated border accented with floral motifs and stylised scrolling designs.

This silver basket is fitted with an impressive interlacing decorated swing handle.

The plain oval well of this impressive piece is encircled with a band of embossed stylised foliate festoon decoration; reflecting the design to the rim.

The fine and impressive foot is ornamented with further pierced horizontal elliptical diaper patter decoration with an applied rope twist style border to the rim.

This Georgian sterling silver cake basket is an excellent gauge of silver, exellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The chased and pierced decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the basket are all very clear.

Reflection in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.
