Sterling Silver Candlesticks - Antique George II (1734)

These exceptional antique George II cast sterling silver candlesticks have a plain classical English form.

The plain cylindrical capitals are encircled with bands of tooled decoration.

The waisted section of each column features a plain rounded quatrefoil shaped knop to the upper portion and to the lower a swept panelled segment to a plain circular knop; the upper knops bear traces of contemporary engraved crests depicting a wolf.

The columns of these Georgian silver candlesticks surmount plain circular sunken wells and are supported by square stepped bases accented with incurved corners.

Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.
