Sterling Silver Candlesticks - Antique George III (1811)

These exceptional antique George III English sterling silver candlesticks have a cylindrical knopped, baluster-shaped form to a circular spreading base, all in a desirable classic English style.

The campania shaped capitals are encompassed with bands of tooled decoration and retain the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconces.

Each sconce is encircled with applied gadroon decoration to the rim.

The knops to the upper portion of the baluster columns are embellished with further applied gadroon decoration.

These antique candlesticks have circular swept bases encompassed with further gadroon decoration and embellished with a contemporary engraved initial 'B'.

Both silver candlesticks have the weighted bases and are fitted with green baize to the underside.

These antique George III sterling silver candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and are in exceptional condition.

The applied decoration is sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
