The pieces of this exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver flatware service for 8 persons have been crafted in the Military Fiddle and Thread pattern.

The surface of each handle is embellished with a paralleling thread decorated border accented with scrolling decoration to the shoulder segment and a pip to the terminal.

The reverse of each solid silver spoon features a thread decorated rounded heel, ornamented with scroll designs to the lower portion.

This straight* flatware service for 8 consists of 48 pieces:

8 Table knives
8 Table forks
8 Dessert knives
8 Dessert forks
8 Dessert spoons
8 Teaspoons

The fundamental pieces of this service have been crafted by the collectable, renowned silversmith and flatware maker George Adams of Chawner & Co in 1861, apart from the table and dessert knives, which are replacements**; the components will have been crafted in the same year but due to the hallmarking system the items are struck with the date letters e and f.

This antique flatware service is supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduce tarnishing.

* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

** Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.
