Description

The pieces of this exceptional, sterling silver antique flatware set for 6 persons have been crafted in the Old English pattern.

Each spoon bears a plain rounded heel to the reverse of the bowl.

This antique flatware set for 6 consists of 36 pieces:

Basic Service:
6 Table knives
6 Table forks

6 Dessert knives
6 Dessert forks
6 Dessert spoons

The pieces of this impressive antique utilitarian London silver service were crafted by a variety of makers:

Table forks:
William Eley & William Fearn, 1805
Table spoons:
William Sumner & Richard Crossley, 1777
Dessert forks:
Solomon Hougham, 1808
Richard Turner, 1814
Charles Boyton (I), 1835
Dessert spoons:
John Lampfert, circa 1765
John Lambe, circa 1775
Thomas Chawner circa 1780

The sterling silver table and dessert knives are replacements*.

These impressive examples of antique silverware are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.

* Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.

Condition

This antique canteen is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition in keeping with age.

There is some wear to the tines in keeping with age and use.

Due to the nature of where struck, the full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece have wear in keeping with age.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive canteen.

Andrew Campbell started trading in antiques during the 1970s. Initially, Andrew lived in the South of England, travelling the country, searching for items of silver to buy. Andrew sold these items at various London markets and antique fairs. Over time, and through selling at a range of venues, Andrew built up a large and diverse customer base from private buyers to national and international trade customers.
