The pieces of this impressive, antique George V straight* sterling silver canteen of cutlery for twelve persons have been crafted in the Hanoverian Rat Tail pattern.


Each spoon and fork features a pip to the handle terminal, in addition to a rat tail to the reverse of the bowls.

The components of this canteen were crafted by the Sheffield silversmith Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd in 1928; the components will have been crafted in the same year but due to the hallmarking system the items are struck with the date letters l and m.


This impressive set benefits from the original knives and carving set fitted with composite handles and blades bearing the maker's mark 'Cooper Brothers, Rustless Steel, Sheffield'.


This boxed canteen of cutlery can be purchased with plain sterling silver handled Hanoverian pattern knives and supplied in felt cutlery rolls if so desired; for further information please contact Andrew Campbell directly.


This exceptional canteen of cutlery is fitted to the original and impressive mahogany wood lift up lid and two drawer canteen box which features fine and impressive brass carrying handles to either side; this box is an impressive piece of furniture in its own right.


Each drawer features two fine and impressive brass handles, ornamented with floral sockets and waisted drop style handpieces.


The hinged doors of the canteen box and upper cover incorporate a paralleling inlaid wood border; the cover is further ornamented with a plain vacant oval cartouche to the centre.

This Hanoverian Rat Tail pattern canteen of cutlery is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The mahogany wood box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker and is also in presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each spoon and fork handle are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
