This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver castle top card case has a rectangular shaped form.

The surface of this antique card case is embellished with fine and impressive chased and embossed scrolling leaf and floral decoration on a matt background.

The anterior surface of the case incorporates Osborne House* depicted in relief.

The decoration to the reverse of the case incorporates a shaped, scroll bordered cartouche displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved initials 'RCK'.

The shaped sides of this piece are embellished with plain scrolling borders.

This antique silver card case is fitted with a hinged cover ornamented with further scrolling leaf and foliate designs on a matt background.

This case is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.

* The impressive Victorian building was the palatial holiday home for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; Prince Albert was also the architect of the building and worked with an engineer/builder Thomas Cubitt. This expansive rural retreat, located on the Isle of Wight, was where this notable queen died following which the house was given to the state and was used for Royal Navy training as well as a public museum.
