This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver sugar box has been realistically modelled in the form of a cat.

The surface of this piece of continental silver is embellished with embossed and chased decoration reproducing the details of the cat's anatomical features and fur.

The upper rim has been modelled in the form of the cat's collar and is encircled with impressive collet set coloured glass (gem style) ornamentation.

This impressive antique silver box retains the original push fit cover/head.

The chest and forehead of the cat are embellished with further large oval collet set gem designs.

Importer's mark: ETB (Edwin Thompson Bryant)

Import mark: Leopard head (London, England)

Silver quality/purity mark: Lion passant, 930* (sterling)

Import date mark: f (1903)

Additional mark:F (foreign manufacture mark)
