The swept neck of the claret jug is embellished with exceptional chased foliate decoration accented scrolling strapwork and incorporating chased decorated figural mask to the posterior surface, all on a matte background; there is an exceptional and large secondary cast mask to the underside of the pouring lip.

The decoration to the body incorporates grazing livestock, in addition to an oval cartouche to the front displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a boar's head above the motto 'Set On'*.

The lower portion of the body is further embellished with a segmented band incorporating chased decorated busts accented with foliate designs.

This impressive example of Victorian silverware is fitted with a domed hinged hallmarked cover, embellished with large scrolling leaf designs on a matte background and surmounted with an exceptional cast sterling silver finial.

The cover opens to reveal the original gilded interior

Andrew sold these items at various London markets and antique fairs. Over time, and through selling at a range of venues, Andrew built up a large and diverse customer base from private buyers to national and international trade customers.
