This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver chamberstick (chamber candlestick) has a plain pear shaped form.

The plain bell shaped capital is unembellished and retains the original push fit hallmarked sconce.

The anterior portion of the wax pan is compartmentalised with a hinged hallmarked cover, comprising a vesta box.

The interior surface of the cover bears a textured panel/match striker.

The plain rounded wax pan and sconce are each encircled with applied gadroon decorated borders.

The border incorporates a plain receiver which allows the original hallmarked snuffer to sit securely.

The snuffer has a plain bell shaped form and is surmounted by a simplified wirework finial.

This silver chamberstick candle holder is fitted with a wirework style loop fingerpiece and supported by three plain wirework feet.

The underside of the chamberstick bears the retailers mark 'Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent ST'.

This impressive antique silver chamberstick / vesta box was crafted by the renowned silversmiths John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton of Hukin & Heath, subsequently Hukin & Heath Ltd.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the chamberstick, in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of the cover, surface of the snuffer and sleeve of the sconce are all very clear.
