Description

This fine antique Edwardian sterling silver pin cushion has been realistically modelled in the form of a chick.

The hallmarked sterling silver head is embellished with chased decoration reproducing the fine details of this adolescent birds’s plumage and facial features.

The body of the chick is comprised of the original cushion.

This antique silver pin cushion is supported by two feet/claws surmounting a circular rounded filled base which retains the original leatherette covering to the underside.

Period pieces retaining the original cushion bodies are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

Date: 1909

Condition

This antique pin cushion is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

The cushion shows sign of wear in keeping with age and use.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the base and part hallmarks to the head are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Edwardian silverware.
