This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver christening mug has a plain tapering cylindrical form.

The body of this mug is encircled with two fine and impressive broad bands of tooled decoration and an applied tooled, moulded border to the rim.

The lower portion of the mug is further ornamented with an exceptional applied band embellished with a weave stitch design; this additional feature makes this piece more desirable and indicates the high quality.

The mug is fitted with a plain faceted angular handle with an incurved shaped thumbpiece.

This exceptional example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior.
