This exceptional antique Victorian silver christening mug has a campania shaped form to a circular spreading foot.

The body and foot of this antique mug are embellished with impressive chased scroll and foliate decoration accented with rose and thistle sprays on a matte background.

The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered, shaped vacant cartouche to the centre.

The upper rim of the mug is encircled with an applied moulded border.

The Victorian silver mug is fitted with a fine and impressive opposing scroll handle ornamented with a leaf decorated thumbpiece and scrolling leaf ornamentation to the upper and lower sockets.

This antique christening mug retains the original gilded interior.

The mug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard

This antique christening mug is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The chased decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
