These fine antique George III sterling silver coasters have a plain cylindrical form.

The surface of each coaster is embellished with pierced vertical pale decoration with arched terminals, in addition to applied swags suspended from ribbon bow designs.

The decoration to the body of these Georgian coasters incorporates a shaped cartouche with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest* displaying an arm in armour embowed, wielding a lance below the motto 'Salvet me Deus' - May God help me.

The upper rims of these antique silver coasters are encircled with applied rope twist decorated borders.

The coasters are fitted with impressive mahogany wood bases, embellished with a sterling silver button to the centre of each.

These antique silver coasters are fitted with green baize to the underside.

* This crest and motto pertains to the Speirs family.

Maker: Unknown
Date: 1773

These antique Georgian coasters are a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.

There is a surface crack to the mahogany wood base to one coaster; this does not affect the integrity of the piece and the pair have been priced accordingly.

Full hallmarks to the surface of each coaster are clear, however the swag ornamentation has been applied over the hallmarks and the maker's mark has been lost to both.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique silverware.
