Description


This exceptional antique George II English sterling silver coffee pot has a cylindrical tapering form.


The body of this antique silver coffee pot is embellished with a re-engraved coat of arms displaying an escutcheon of per fess indented, two mullets inverted, surmounted with a crest depicting an armoured arm embowed holding an shield with a five pointed star.


The upper and lower portions of the body are embellished with applied moulded borders.


The coffee pot retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted with the original cast sterling silver circular urn style finial.


The coffee pot is fitted with a pear wood C shaped handle with a plain scrolling thumbpiece and cast scrolling sterling silver sockets.


This impressive coffee pot is fitted with a cast swan necked spout ornamented with applied moulded decoration to the lip.


The underside of this English sterling silver coffee pot features the contemporary engraved initials 'MS'.


This exceptional coffee pot was crafted by the renowned London silversmith George Wickes.

This antique coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The hallmarks struck to the surface of the coffee pot have wear in keeping with age and location but remain legible.

The lion passant to the interior of the cover and maker's mark to the underside of the base are very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Georgian silverware.
