Description

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver coffee pot has a cylindrical tapering form.

The body of this Victorian coffee pot is embellished with bright cut engraved simplified floral festoons suspended from a ribbon bow, to either side.

This ornamentation incorporates an oval cartouche to each side; one remains vacant and the other displays the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a tower surmounted with a bird addorsed.

The upper and lower portions of the body are embellished with bands of undulating decoration incorporating oval floral motifs to either side.

The coffee pot is fitted with a hallmarked domed hinged cover embellished with further bright cut engraved decoration identical to that of the body.

The centre of the cover is surmounted with the original circular urn style finial.

The coffee pot retains the original carved ivory opposing scroll handle with a plain scrolling thumbpiece and cylindrical sterling silver sockets.

This impressive coffee pot is fitted with a cylindrical tapering spout embellished with bright cut engraved stylised festoon ornamentation.

Condition

This antique coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

There is some natural crazing to the handle as to be expected in keeping with age; this does not affect the integrity of the piece.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the coffee pot have wear in keeping with age and location.

The part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware.
