This fine antique George III sterling silver taper candlestick has an impressive Corinthian column to a square swept base.

The impressive ionic style capital of the candlestick retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce.

The rim of the sconce is encompassed with a paralleling bead decorated border.

The swept portions of the base are ornamented with impressive applied swag decoration with further bead decorated borders to the upper and lower rims.

This Georgian candlestick has a weighted base, as to be expected, and is fitted with green baize to the underside.

Date: 1777

This antique taper candlestick is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of the sconce are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.
