Sterling Silver Stag Hunt Pattern Fish Slice / Server by Paul Storr - Antique George III

£3,950.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Georgian English sterling silver Stag Hunt pattern fish slice / server made by Paul Storr; an addition to our silver flatware collection

SKU C7473

This exceptional antique George III sterling silver fish slice / server has been crafted in the Stag Hunt pattern*.

The surface of the handle is ornamented with a hunting scene incorporating a stag surrounded by hounds, with a hunter to the rounded handle terminal.

The surface of the plain ferrule is embellished with the contemporary engraved crest of a stag.

The handle of this Paul Storr silver fish slice conjoins with the incurved blade with a shell decorated bolster to the anterior surface and a scrolling ornamentation to the heel.

The shaped blade is embellished with a paralleling tooled border, in addition to impressive shaped pierced designs to the centre; the reverse surface of the blade is plain.

This exceptional antique silver fish slice was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Paul Storr.

* This Regency pattern is very rare and was first created by Paul Storr for Rundell Bridge & Rundell. Storrs successors continued to make variants of this design through the nineteenth century and is still produced today; to build a complete period service would be virtually impossible.

How to clean antique silverware

Date: 1816

This antique sterling silver fish slice is an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.

The engraved decoration is crisp and the Stag Hunt pattern is sharp.

There is a small bruise to the end of the handle, as often the case in keeping with age and use.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the blade are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Paul Storr silver fish slice.
