Description

These exceptional antique Georgian English sterling silver forks have a three pronged form.

The anterior surface of each handle is plain and unembellished, apart from a pip to the terminal.

The posterior terminals of these 18th century forks are embellished with contemporary engraved crests depicting out of a ducal coronet a cubit arm holding stemmed wheat.

Condition

These antique 18th century forks are a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition in keeping with age.

The engraved crest to each piece is crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each handle stem have wear in keeping with age and location; the nature of the fork pattern dictates the location of the hallmarks to the reverse of the stem. In many extant flatware pieces, because of this narrow surface, the hallmarks are poorly struck and become illegible. In this instance however, the hallmarks show signs of wear in keeping with age but many remain partially legible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of Georgian silverware.
