Description

This fine antique Regency style sterling silver tea and coffee set consists of a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl.

Each piece, apart from the coffee pot, has a compressed circular form onto four bracket style feet.

The coffee pot has a baluster shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot supported by four bracket style feet.

The body of each piece is encircled with a broad band of chased scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation incorporating a scroll bordered cartouche to either side; one cartouche remains vacant, the other displays the engraved initials 'JEH'.

The shaped shoulders of the teapot and coffee pot, and the rim of the cream jug and sugar bowl are encompassed with an applied and chased floral and fruit decorated border.

The teapot and coffee pot are both fitted with flush hinged, hallmarked, domed covers ornamented with further chased floral ornamentation; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of this service.

Each cover is surmounted with the original original cast sterling silver floral decorated finial.

The teapot and coffee pot are fitted with impressive hallmarked, plain C scroll handles ornamented with applied leaf decorated thumbpieces.

The cream jug and sugar bowl are fitted with C scroll handles embellished with a continuation of the design to that of the rims, emanating from cornucopia motifs to the handpieces.

The teapot and coffee pot spouts are ornamented with an impressive applied floral medallion to the upper portion of the lip.

The teapot, coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl are all supported by four impressive Regency style bracket feet, each embellished with scrolling leaf decoration to a paw foot.
