These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver peppers are realistically modelled in the form of crouching frogs.

Each piece has been embellished with chased decoration reproducing the fine details of the amphibious texture of the skin and enhancing the frog’s anatomy.

These antique frog peppers are further ornamented with bead eyes.

The underside of each frog’s chin/vocal sack features pierced ‘pepper’ holes, in addition to further pierced holes to the external nares/nostrils.

Each piece retains the original, hallmarked screw fitting cover to the underside, which when unscrewed provides access to permit the pepper to be filled.

These peppers were crafted by the renowned London silversmith Sampson Mordan II of Sampson Mordan & Co; peppers of this age, quality and exceptional condition are becoming increasingly scarce.

These antique frog peppers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each frog’s forelimb and part hallmarks to the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Victorian silverware.
