Description

This exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian cast sterling silver gilt pomander has been realistically modelled in the form of a poppy head.

The surface of this cast antique silver pomander is embellished with details replicating the seed pod's natural texture.

This exceptional and rare pomander retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, modelled in the form of the stigmatic disk.

This impressive gilt cover allows access to the open chamber and pierced decorated holds, replicating the apical pores.

The pomander retians the original gilding.

This unusual and rare pomander is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.

Date: 1896

Condition

This antique pomander is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The cast decoration is sharp.

The original gilding has wear to the stem/handpiece and where handled for use.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the stem and sleeve of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware.
