Sterling Silver Gilt Posy Holder - Antique Victorian

£2,250.00

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver posy holder; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection

SKU C5415

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver posy holder has a conical shaped form onto three legs.

The surface of the holder is embellished with bright cut engraved interlacing stylised scrolling leaf motifs, all on a matte background comprising arabesque style arched panels/cartouches to the lower portions.

The anterior surface incorporates the impressive contemporary engraved monogram initials 'SIA'.

The upper portion of this impressive example of Victorian silverware is encompassed with an impressive applied rope twist decorated border.

The vessel terminates with a bright cut engraved leaf design to a ball screw fit base; once removed this allows the functional hinged legs to be opened.

This impressive holder is supported by three hinged legs, each embellished with impressive bright cut engraved leaf decoration; the hinges are finely engineered to allow the legs to fold flush to the body.

This antique Victorian silver posey holder retains the original pin and hallmarked detachable interior collar; the featured pin penetrates the holder and collar allowing a posy/nosegay/tussie-mussie to be held securely.

The pin secures to the body via the original belcher style chain; the ring loop of the chain conjoins a secondary chain terminating with a plain circular finger piece.

The surface of this impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilding.

This exceptional posy holder is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire.
