This magnificent antique 19th century sterling silver sugar box has been realistically modelled in the form of a hare, upright on its hind legs.


This impressive sugar box has been embellished with chased decoration reproducing the features of the hare's fur, anatomy and facial features.


This large antique silver sugar box piece retains the original hallmarked cast sterling silver push fit cover/head.


The hallmarks struck to the underside and cover of this impressive 19th century sugar box in silver includes:

Maker's mark: n (Ludwig Neresheimer, Hanau)

Importer's mark: BM (B Muller & Son (Berthold Muller))

Import mark: Chester, England

Import date mark: Q (1899)
