This exceptional antique George V English finely cast sterling silver table ornament have been realistically modelled in the form of an Argyll and Sutherland Highlander dressed in Scottish regimental officer's attire from the period of 1902-1914.

The Highlander is habited in a uniform consisting of a service jacket with crossed sash and strap accented with a central emblem and two medals; these medals represent two Boer War medals.

The soldier is dressed in a tartan kilt with decorative badger head sporran in addition to patterned knee length kilt socks with a turnover top and fabric bows, finished off with shin high boots.

This antique soldier is surmounted with a feather bonnet with hackle, which is a traditional military headdress used within the Scottish Highland infantry regiments.

This solid silver ornament is holding a basket hilted broadsword in one hand.

These impressive cast sterling silver figure is embellished with chased decoration reproducing the finer details of the highlander’s features and attire.

The impressive statue stands to a fine and impressive oblong mahogany plinth with green baize to the underside; if required this plinth could be fitted with bespoke sterling silver presentation plaques suitable for a personal engraved inscription.

This exceptional statue was crafted by the renowned Birmingham silversmiths Elkington & Co Ltd.

Such original period pieces are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

* The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (otherwise known as the Princess Louise's) was a regiment of the British Army formed in 1881 and remained active till they were consolidated with other line infantry Highlanders to form the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The cast and chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of base are all very clear.
