This exceptional antique George V sterling silver trinket box has a plain oval form.

The body of this antique trinket/jewellery box is plain and unembellished.

The box is fitted with a hallmarked hinged silver cover is embellished with engine turned decoration incorporating an applied circular vacant cartouche, in addition to a plain rounded thumbpiece to the anterior surface.

This impressive box is supported by four impressive applied legs embellished with scrolling leaf ornamentation.

The hallmarked solid sterling silver hinged cover opens to reveal the original gilding and a bespoke navy blue velvet fitment which provides a central well.

The base is weighted, as to be expected, and retains the original leatherette to the underside.

This sterling silver trinket box is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The engine turned decoration is all very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the rim of the box and part hallmarks to the surface of the cover are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
