The surface of this Victorian jewellery casket is embellished with exceptional chased scrolling leaf decoration, amongst interlacing strapwork style borders.
The chased decoration to each side incorporates an exceptional central bearded mask design.
The original hallmarked domed hinged cover is ornamented with further chased strapwork decoration accented with large leaf motifs and diaper pattern backgrounds.
The centre of the cover is embellished with an oval shaped cartouche displaying a contemporary engraved coat of arms displaying firstly a chevron between three cross-flory, secondly a griffin passant in chief with a chevron charged with three scallops between three flowers.
The swept portion of the cover is ornamented with a chased leaf decorated border.
