Edwardian Sterling Silver Jewellery Box
Sterling Silver Jewellery / Trinket Box by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd - Antique Edwardian (1906)

This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver jewellery box has an oval form.

The surface of the body is embellished with impressive bright cut engraved floral and foliate festoons suspended from ribbon bow motifs.

This antique jewellery/trinket box is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover encompassed with an applied tied reed decorated border.

The upper plateau of the cover is embellished with bright cut engraved floral and foliate garlands, incorporating further ribbon bow designs supporting a wreathe bordered vacant cartouche.

The plain anterior edge of the cover features a plain rounded thumbpiece.

The cover opens to reveal the original gilded interior.

The body is supported by four sterling silver applied, leaf decorated legs to volute scrolling feet.

NOTE: The majority of such boxes have a wood lining to the interior and weighted bases; it is a sign of quality when boxes have unweighted, unlined interiors in addition to a solid silver cover.

This antique trinket box is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The box has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp and the bright cut engraved ornamentation is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the gilded rim to the body and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
