Sterling Silver Meat Platter by Paul Storr - Antique George III

£8,195.00

A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver meat platter made by Paul Storr; an addition to our dining silverware collection

SKU A5950

This magnificent antique George III sterling silver meat platter has an oval shaped form with a sunken plain oval central well.

The well of this silver platter is plain and unembellished.

The raised shaped border is ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved marital coat of arms* above two tied branches.

The rim of this impressive example of Georgian silverware is encompassed with an applied tied reed decorated border accented with crossed branches to each incurve.

This magnificent meat platter was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Paul Storr.

This piece is a segment of a more extensive table service incorporating dishes, trays and platters; through time the service will have been divided.

* This coat of arms pertains to the marriage of Pelham and Aufrere in 1770. Charles Anderson Pelham was the later 1st Baron of Yarborough (1748-1823) and his wife Sophia Aufrere, the only daughter and heiress of George Aufrere Esq of Chelsea.
