Description


This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver mug has a cylindrical shaped form.


The body of the mug is embellished with an exceptional and unusual bright cut engraved scene depicting a large arched, Gothic style window accented with surrounding structural mouldings.


Either side of the window display features an impressive applied statue; each ornament is modelled in the form of a male figure in Scottish-clan warrior attire.


The decoration to this London silver mug incorporates a large shield shaped cartouche to the anterior surface.


The upper flared rim of this fine mug is encircled with an applied moulded border.


The mug is fitted with an exceptional cast sterling silver, angular handle reflecting further Gothic influence.


This exceptional antique mug is supported by four conjoined, exceptional cast silver bracket style feet, accented with strapwork style ornamentation.


The interior of the mug retains the original gilding.


This exceptional mug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II.

This antique London silver mug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the mug are all very clear.
