Description


This exceptional antique George V sterling silver plate has a plain circular hexafoil shaped form with a plain circular central well.


The surface of this fine antique plate is plain and unembellished.


The shaped border is ornamented with the fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms of an escutcheon displaying a chevron between three steels or butts of broken spears, all above the motto 'Fortiter Et Fieliter' - Bravely and Faithfully.


The coat of arms is surmounted with a crest depicting out of a tower a speared lion's head.


The border is further embellished with impressive applied gadroon decoration to the rim.


The underside of the plate bears the retailer's mark 'Made in England for J.E.Caldwell & Co' in addition to the registration number '77538'.


The underside of the plate is further ornamented with the engraved initials 'IJS' and date 'MCMXXX' - 1930.

Condition


This antique sterling silver plate is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the plate are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
