This exceptional antique George III English silver presentation cup, in sterling standard, has a bell shaped form to a spreading pedestal foot.

The lower portion of this antique cup is embellished with exceptional chased fluted ornamentation.

The plain upper portion is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest of a heart ensigned with an imperial crown between two wings*, below the motto 'Forward'.

The upper portion of the cup is encompassed with an applied band of evolute scrolling leaf decoration accented with oval rosette motifs, all on a matte background; this broad border is flanked with applied reed decoration.

This impressive English silver presentation cup is fitted with two impressive elongated C shaped handles, each with bands of applied tied reed decoration, in addition to cast and applied leaf decorated thumbpieces.

This exceptional example of Georgian silverware is supported by a pedestal foot encompassed with further applied reed decoration.

This antique silver cup, crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Peter, Ann & William Bateman, retains the original gilt interior.

If required, this antique cup could be supplied with a bespoke ebonised black plinth with sterling silver plaque or band, suitable for a personal engraved inscription. This service would take approximately 6 weeks, whereas the cup can be dispatched separately prior to completion.

* This crest pertains to Castle Douglas. Castle Douglas was created a Burgh of Barony in 1791 in favour of Sir William Douglas; the crowned and winged heart and the motto were the crest and motto of Douglas, Marquess of Queensberry, with whom Sir William Douglas claimed kinship.
