This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver cup has a circular bell shaped form to a circular spreading pedestal foot.
The body of this presentation cup is embellished with impressive chased foliate motif decorated garlands, suspended strategically from the handle sockets and a large cartouche to either.
Each cartouche bears stylised leaf decorated border accented with four large scrolling leaf designs; the individual leaf design to the nadir of each cartouche is subtly larger and flanked with scrolling brackets incorporated into the aforementioned garlands.
One cartouche remains vacant and the other features an impressive chased decorated scene depicting a uniformed soldier on his knee, holding a rifle.
The upper portion of the body is encompassed with a matte textured border accented with further scroll and leaf motifs, all below a plain applied moulded border to the rim.
This exceptional cup is fitted with two angular, cast sterling silver handles ornamented with leaf decorated handpieces, in addition to exceptional cast and applied bifurcating dragon designs elevated from the upper plateaus/sockets.
This exceptional Victorian sterling silver cup is supported by a circular pedestal foot accented with circular bead decorated knops, in addition to applied bead ornamentation to the rim.
The surface of the foot is encircled with further chased garland and foliate motif ornamentation.
This exceptional example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilded interior.
