Sterling Silver Presentation Hors D'Oeuvres Dish - Antique Edwardian

Description

This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver hors d'oeuvres serving set consists of a quartet set of dishes, a pair forks and a knife.

The four graduating sized dishes have been realistically modelled in the form of a flower, each with a naturalistic five petaled form.

These impressive and unusual dishes are conjoined to an irregular quatrefoil shaped plateau segmented with embossed and chased stemmed Tudor rose decoration on a matte background.

One end of the antique hors d'oeuvres dish has an integrated shaped handle.

This silver dish is supported by a pair of shaped sterling silver feet.

The blade of the knife has an incurved shaped form and the forks have three splayed tines.

Each piece of hallmarked solid silver flatware is embellished with scrolling leaf designs incorporating an oval shaped cartouche to the terminal.

The heel of each piece is embellished with a circular wreath style design to the posterior surface.

The serving dish and accompanying flatware are fitted to a hinged oak wood case embellished with brass fittings to each corner, in addition to a shield shaped vacant brass cartouche and escutcheon.

The original presentation case has a velvet and satin lined interior.

* The Tudor rose, also known as the Union rose, is a traditional heraldic emblem pertaining to England. The conjoined design of the red rose (House of Lancaster) with the white rose (House of York) to the centre was created by Henry VII in the late 15th century as unification of the two houses after his marriage to Elizabeth of York.
