This exceptional antique George III sterling silver quart* tankard has a plain cylindrical tapering form onto a spreading thread decorated foot.

The body of the tankard is encircled with an applied girdle below the impressive contemporary engraved initials 'IW'.

This antique Peter and Ann Bateman tankard retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted by an impressive interlacing scrolling thumbpiece.

This quart tankard is fitted with a hallmarked S scroll handle with an impressive heart shaped terminal and a pendant drop design to the upper portion.

This exceptional tankard was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Peter and Ann Bateman.

This antique George III tankard is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality in keeping with such a piece and in exceptional presentation condition in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the tankard have slight wear in keeping with age and location.

The part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the second part of the maker's mark is not legible, but remains legible to the body.
