This exceptional antique George III sterling silver samovar has a plain urn shaped form supported by a spreading circular pedestal foot onto a plain square base and four bun style feet.

The body of this impressive antique Georgian samovar is plain and embellished with two large bright cut engraved oval cartouches, each surmounted with an urn style design accented with suspended foliate festoons interlacing the oval frame; the cartouche to the posterior surface incorporates a floral basket design, the other remains vacant.

The upper portion of the body is encompassed with a bright cut engraved and wrigglework undulating band, incorporating simplified quatrefoil motifs to the interlacing design.

The anterior surface of the body incorporates a cast spigot accented with ribbed decoration and applied enveloping tiered leaf designs, incorporating an impressive carved wood fan shaped handle.

The samovar is fitted with a pair of reed decorated narrow loop handles.

This impressive Georgian silver samovar retains the original plain waisted, domed hallmarked push fit cover surmounted with an impressive sterling silver urn style finial.

The surface of the cover and lower portion of the pedestal foot are embellished with contemporary bright cut engraved decoration reflecting the interlacing border to the body.

The cast and applied decoration is very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of the cover are all very clear.
