These exceptional antique George III sterling silver sauce tureens have a circular rounded form onto a circular spreading pedestal and octagonal base.

The body of each antique sauce tureen is embellished with chased batwing decoration to the lower portion, accented with a scrolling vertebrate band of bright cut engraved spiralling floral and foliate decoration.

The decoration to one side of each tureen incorporates two cartouches, one bearing the armorial markings of a demi lion rampant between six cross crosslets fitched gules and the other appears vacant, all above the motto 'Vincit Veritas' - Truth Prevails.

The upper rim of each silver tureen is encircled with an applied reed decorated border.

These exceptional tureens retain the original hallmarked push fit covers ornamented with further spiralling bright cut engraved decoration, each incorporating a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a demi-lion rampant, holding in the dexter paw a cross crosslet fitched.

The domed upper portion of the cover is encompassed with further chased batwing decoration and surmounted with a large, cast sterling silver ball style finial.

Each Georgian tureen is fitted with two impressive cast sterling silver handles ornamented with applied moulded decoration and terminating with bifurcating upper sockets; these bifurcating terminals are ornamented with a continuation of reed decoration from the upper rim of the body.

The circular foot of each tureen is embellished with bright cut engraved leaf decoration to a plain swept border and panelled stepped octagonal rim.

These sauce tureens are presented with fine and impressive associated London made, antique Victorian sterling silver sauce ladles crafted in the Fiddle pattern by Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater.

* This crest and motto pertains to the Boddington family
