Sterling Silver Sovereign Case - Antique Edwardian

This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver sovereign case has a subtly domed circular rounded form.

The anterior and posterior surfaces of this piece are plain and unembellished, apart from the feature hallmarks.

This antique silver sovereign case is fitted with a hallmarked bow* with a push fit catch, which when pressed releases the hinged cover revealing a hallmarked spring loaded sovereign holder embellished with engine turned decoration.

This impressive piece of antique silverware is fitted with a hallmarked ring loop attachment.

* The catch bears the maker's marks for Dennison Watch Case Co. due to a batch made assembly crafting process; this practice is not uncommon.

Date: 1909

This antique sterling silver sovereign case is a very good gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The engine turned decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover and part hallmarks to the sprung sovereign receiver and ring loop attachment are very clear in keeping with age and location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.

Length including loop attachment 4.7cm/1.9"

Diameter 3cm/1.2"
