Description


This exceptional antique sterling silver basket has a cylindrical shaped form onto four bracket style feet.


The surface of this fine example of Victorian silverware is embellished with an embossed and pierced decorated scene depicting a windmill, thatched building and wooden residences connected by fenced walkways, all within a forest setting incorporating a cow to the land and a bird to the skyline.


The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied rope twist decorated border.


The basket retains the original hallmarked, swing handle ornamented with interlacing loops with central conjoining floral motifs.


This impressive antique silver sugar basket retains the original removable clear frosted glass liner, embellished with a star cut glass design to the underside.


This exceptional antique sterling silver basket is supported by four scrolling leaf decorated bracket style feet.


This sterling silver basket with handle is fitted to the original and impressive hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior, which features a push fit catch.


The interior of the presentation box bears the mark Lewis & Son, 44&45 King's RD, Brighton beneath a coronet amidst Estd 1730.

Condition


This antique sugar basket is an execptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The embossed, pierced and applied decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and part hallmarks to the handle are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
